Roar singer Perry is set to be the global ambassador for Alibaba's 'Singles Day' gala, its annual shopping festival with transactions reaching billions of dollars.

The event is held annually on November 11 eclipses Black Friday in the US.

Retailer Alibaba heavily discounts goods on its site for 'Single's Day' with transactions in 2015 surpassing 94 billion yuan (£11 billion). 467 million parcels needed to be delivered nationwide following the sale, reports state-run Xinhua.
